1. Caged birds, free birds
In our province not so very long ago, my alarm clock was not a cell phone tucked underneath my pillow. I would wake up to the sound of birds.

3. A TOUR OF TRIBECA
The Tribeca Film Festival (TFF) loves New York and vice versa, but might the fest, with its successful 2008 installment just behind it, be getting itchy for the world-class status of Toronto, Sundance or Cannes?

4. Jacaranda trees are a beautiful mess
Their distinctive, ultraviolet-blue flowers charm onlookers. But they infamously shed the blossoms, leaving a sticky residue behind. The drive down Pasadena's Del Mar Boulevard under a canopy of ultraviolet-blue jacarandas has lost none of its effect on Roland Clements after all these years.

7. Earn your degree in online bullying
It's kind of like "Gossip Girl" - but a whole lot nastier. A real-life gossip site for the college set - JuicyCampus.com - takes mean to another level.

Questions?

Q:I was wondering what the site is all about, if it is a chat room or a blog, how it is set-up. So, basically the IT background of it...
A:It is set up like any other blog site. Only this site, from the few minutes I looked at it, appears to cater to unchecked and undocumented writings that you can say almost anything about anyone. One of the first blogs I saw was a guy talking about his alleged encounter with a certain girl. He gave her name and her address. This is wrong in my opinion. I am for freedom of speech, but I have no use people who write unsubstantiated rhetoric like this or sites that allow it. What sites like this are doing is pushing the freedom of speech laws to the point where eventually the Supreme Court is going to have to define is and is not legal. And I really don't believe any of us want that. -tcw
Q:What do you think about them? should gossip sites be allowed on the internet? should they be censored? do you believe that people who post on the site should be able to remain anonymous?
A:Yes they should be allowed No they should not be censored Yes I do believe that they should have the option of remaining anonymous. But saying that, if they truly believed in what they are saying, they should not be afraid of identifying themselves.
